ENVIRONMENTAL FLOWS
MANGROOVES, DAHISAR
Originally, this site served as a home for the Patels of Gujarat, who toiled in salt pans. As the salt pans closed and mangroves encroached, they shifted to occupations like housemaids and small-scale enterprises. Additionally, the area included a cultural space where the Agari tribe conducted their rituals. Nestled within the mangroves, a small temple adorned the site, accessible via the bund wall.
After entering into the sight every time new thing come across , Changes in movement of animals, birds, insects, the way people inhabited themselves different organisms, shelves, temple, chul, boats, direction of water flow
I started exploring and observing different types of flows Boats, Tides, Crabs, Birds, Insects
One of the flow which i come across was Flow of crabs started with mapping flow of crabs
Flow of crabs during high tide, crabs go under their burrows to save themselves from flowing water
Flow of crabs during summer, footprints can be seen during this days, Crabs go inside their burrows to hide themselves from heat

After studying and observing flow of crabs i understood that people were continuously catching crabs and use them for their economical purpose due to this one day the crabs species will get vanished.
Their where two types of crabs one which was found near bund wall known as Tirla while the other one which is eaten by people is found in creek known as scylla serrata, this crab is larger in size and found in deep water not near bund wall

My aim was to create a space naturally where we can grow crabs so that people want go inside creek and species of crabs remain also it should not affect the economy of the people those who are depend on crabs fishing

My intervention is about crab cultivation where people will cultivate crabs naturally and use it for selling
Experiencing to the people how crabs cultivation is done
Aiteration 1:Closing the area from top and eitherside with net and grow the crabs on particular area
Aiteration 2: Creating a bund wall across the mangrooves which will stop crabs to flow on either side and net at one end below bundwall that will make crabs to stay at one place and grow naturally.
